The Avengers (movie in 2012)

Director:

Joss Whedon

Writer:

Joss Whedon (screenplay)

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.[2] It was announced in April 2005 and is based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor(2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012, in 3D.[3][4] Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America to fight an enemy threatening the world with destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of actors Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release.

sony ericsson xperia play

Sony Ericsson describes its new Xperia Play as a “smartphone first”, but let’s be honest – the Play is for gamers. Not all gamers, either, but specifically those who are into old school PlayStation games. The main distinguishable feature is a PlayStation gamepad, so saying it’s a phone first isn’t doing anyone any favours.

Fortunately for Sony Ericsson, New Zealand is, and has always been, a ‘PlayStation Nation’. Those people who were rocking Crash Bandicoot back in the day are going to love this phone – if they can afford it, given they’re probably all around 25 years old now.

There’s a lot to love about the Xperia Play. It’s a chunky phone, but understandably so, as it has to accommodate not just a 4-inch, 480 x 854 screen, but also a slide-out gamepad, and a battery that can fight through several hours of non-stop game time – five and a half hours, to be exact. The gamepad itself slides out with very reassuring solidity, and for the most part is brilliant. The tactile response is fantastic and nothing seems easily breakable.

The one let-down is the pair of circular touchpads that are supposed to stand in for analogue directional sticks. While they’re relatively well thought-out – with indents in the middle and around the edges so you don’t have to look at them to know what you’re doing – they just don’t feel anything like a stick does to use, as you can’t move them in circular motions. The touchpads might as well be directional buttons, except you can move on angles as well as up-down-left-right. As such, we found we used the D-pad far more often than the touchpads.

Our review device came with The Sims 3 and a port of the original Crash Bandidoot installed, but there are many more games available for the Play. Some games on the Android market are compatible with the Play’s gamepad, and big companies like EA and Gameloft have made games available to download through their own websites (although you’ll have to fiddle with the Play’s settings to allow external downloads).

Of course, none of this is any good unless the Play is powerful enough to run those games – rest assured, it is. It has a 1GHz processor with 380MB RAM, and we haven’t found a game that lagged yet. We did, however, find that games had a tendency to crash sometimes, but the version of the software on our review device is not the final retail version to be released in June, so hopefully some bugs just need ironing out.

The Play is nice to use as a phone – it’s running speedy Android 2.3 and will be capable of updating if a new version of the operating system becomes available. There’s 400MB of onboard storage and a preinstalled 8GB microSD. However, because smartphone-based versions of Android display vertically (in portrait), we found it annoying that when we had the gamepad out, we couldn’t navigate the menu without turning the phone upright – which was awkward – or sliding the gamepad back in.

The problem with the Xperia Play is that, when it comes down to it, the device tries to do too many things. Don’t get us wrong – it’s a nice phone, and it does most things pretty well, but it doesn’t do anything exceptionally well. Still, if you’re big on gaming, have the dosh and want some serious geek cred, the Play could be the smartphone for you.

nintendo wii U controller

The new controller incorporates a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen and traditional button controls, including two analog Circle Pads. This combination removes the traditional barriers between games, players and the TV by creating a second window into the video game world. The rechargeable controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, rumble feature, camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus.

new psp(NGP)

Betcha didn't think this day would come, but it finally has. Sony has just come clean with its next-generation PlayStation Portable. It's actually codenamed NGP and will revolve around five key concepts: Revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual (augmented) Reality. It will be compatible with the PlayStation Suite and is backwards-compatible with downloadable PSP games and content from Sony's PlayStation Store.

Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not nubs as on the current generation), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass, and cameras on both the front and back. Available this holiday season. Wait... what?!

Games will come on "new media," not UMD anymore, but we're unclear on what sort of flash memory is being used. Sony's rather proud of the fact it's offering the world's first dual analog stick combo on a portable device, though we're more geeked about the quadrupling of pixel count from the original PSP.

Sony's live event has been graced by demos of some pretty popular games, including Killzone,Resistance, Little Big Planet, and Uncharted -- with the latter serving as a demo platform to show off how the NGP's rear touchpad can be used to more intuitively climb up some vines. That touch panel on the back is the same size and positioned directly under the front OLED touchscreen, which allows for some pretty sophisticated controls when using the two simultaneously.

The new console's UI will be called LiveArea, which has a bunch of vertically navigable home screens and built-in social networking through PlayStation Network. You can jump between games and the LiveArea without losing your progress and comment on your buddies' great feats of mobile gaming.

Seven-R-Zero-N – Tron Inspired Watch

There was a time when it was difficult to think about a design of a gadget which could be unique and attractive at the same time, but now the time has changed, people are getting new ideas from the movies. We have already seen a Tron Mouse and now it’s the turn of a Tron watch.

Scott Galloway recently presented his ‘Seven-R-Zero-N’ watch which is inspired from the movie ‘Tron’. This watch has got a unique design and one can see the lights all around. It has got attractive looks but I guess it might be a little difficult to figure out the time shown in that watch.

LG super thin bezel Monitor

.....
....

Whenever we go to a seminar or some big fair, we usually see the big TV or Monitors hanging on the wall. Well there are many different companies who make wall video display devices but LG has made something which is actually very thin and light in weight.

We are talking about new LG 47WV30 47” inch monitor(that’s huge enough). This LED based monitor provides perfect video quality, thanks to its narrow bezel technology. It has 6.9 mm seam size that’s very thin. It produces perfect quality picture even in outdoors where the brightness as high as 4,000 lux. They have used a very superior technology.

It uses LED BLU which is more superior to LCD and saves more energy and offers lighting quality. The devices is perfect for shopping malls, corporate fairs or big companies. I think now other companies should also make something more slim.
